FAQ

What is my tracking number?

If you chose free shipping, there is no tracking number.

I ship these in brown kraft-paper envelopes, old-school stamped mail. For estimates on shipping time, please see the notes on shipping within the contact & customer service page.

Do you make custom pieces?

No. I used to, but I realized it wrinkles my flow.

I work Hawbuck at night and on weekends so custom projects takes up too much of that time. But if you have a problem you want solved, please tell me-- that’s how new standard products happen.

Will you customize your wallets?

No, for the same reason.

My wallet is six months old and there is a slight fray of a few tiny fibers at two of the edges, what gives?

Yes, time for a flame polish.

Those are microscopic UHMWPE fibers that have pulled out of the edge, heat will fuse them.

How many bills will these wallets hold?

Not many. 3? 5?

These are basically card wallets, with the cash pocket acting as a cover to contain the card stacks. Call these card+ wallets—they will hold a bill or three, but are designed for the infrequent use of cash that seems typical today. These are designed for 3 or 4 cards on either side.

What happens if I add extra cards to it?

Premature wear.

If you load up the wallet with more cards than it was designed for, it can tolerate it for a while, but eventually the woven polyester face cloth will wear away near the corner of the card stack will wear. This is a long slow process and I have few (none?) reports of these wearing all the way through the laminate.

Additionally, as you add cards, material wrapping around the cards is "stolen" from the cash pocket, so if you have a dozen or two cards in the wallet and cash, the edge of the cash will peak out from the wallet.

How long will these wallets last?

2-4 years, sometimes longer depending on the owner.

It depends on personal factors, such as how active you are, what you do for work, etc. I have a few folks this year coming back for their first one after 6 years of use. It also depends on your criteria, the Dyneema® is so tough that between “looking worn” and “dead” maybe longer than one might expect. I’ve been making these wallets since 2017 and it seems like, for most people these last between 2 and 4 years of daily use before they are replaced. These are not buy-it-for-life, these are buy-it-for-ass-comfort.

How do these wallets wear?

In general, these wallets are incredibly tough. There isn’t much rigidity to the material, so the shape is largely driven by the bank cards it contains, in unsupported areas expect more wrinkling and deformation of material than in the supported areas. This is why I push the smallest, card sized model.

Within the design, I’ve chosen to leave the laminate edge unhemmed, this is a compact construction that aids in the handling of the wallet in and out of your pocket, there is no small hem to flap or drag. There is a con, in that over time, this laminate edge will “bleed” fine UHMPE fibers. Plan to “Flame Polish” your wallet about twice a year.
